Gone

Tibetan prayer flags
left to oversee
an empty desk.

Friends penultimate day

I will be helping
interview his
replacement.

How do I ask
the replacement
if he will make me
laugh and think?

gods damn it!
Unexpected gift

After two days of
plodding through a
foot of snow
the bike path was plowed
from the train depot
to Wiggins Ave.

Nice!

The benches

I had strode by
the benches many
times. It took 15 inches
of snow
to lure me into a
landing
listening to wind,
birds and
trees creaking
in the cold.

Nerd Out

A friend loaned me the first four
Harry Potter movies as I ramp
up to seeing the latest two.

The day after the solstice.

My desk.

Weebles wobble but don't fall down.

Crossed paths with Jez
near the Bedford train
depot,
now housing an antique and
debris store,
usual greeting
"Do you know what time
it is?" while pointing to his wrist.
8:15 I tell him
and then for the next 20 minutes I
backtrack his footprints
to and fro.
Winter Solstice, lunar eclipse, first snow

Cliches are right.
Hush of a forest, field and stream
under the first blanket
of snow.
Crunch of snow underfoot
leaving boot prints
with those of wild animals.
Crisp fresh air
clearing mind
and soul.
Thank you Gaia,
Merry Solstice.

"The stars appear
every night in the sky.
All is well."

The goodness I receive
marks me a lucky man.
Sunday made sacred not
by popes or caiaphas
but by the intimate
conversation of
family.

Large flock

A large number of
crows (possibly > 100)
have been swooping
over the courtyard
of the LCC (Lexington Corporate Center)
in a striking imitation
of Hitchcock's
The Birds.
When the sun is
out the crows shadows
on the walls are
indistinguishable
from the birds
themselves.

22 degrees this morning.

Escalating the clothing
arms race to
long johns,
wool mittens,
wool stocking cap
and
jacket liner.

Flight weight ratio

Perched over the bike
path this morning,
about 20 feet up,
a red tail hawk
does the math
as I
walk by.

Cold wind

This morning blows
the stink right off ya.

Left wondering

Late dusk and a bike
is coming towards me
still a ways off.
Bike pulls over then off
the bike path.
By the time I am along
side I can see the bike rider
about 15 feet off the path
behind a tree. First I thought
they needed a little privacy
for some personal business,
but then they came out from behind the tree
with a flashlight in their
hand, searching for something
on the ground.

Lots of squawking

Crow conference
taking place.
Agenda:
1) Fresh road kill on Wiggins Ave.
2) Whats up with the ravens and
all their "Nevermore" crap.

Primal pleasure

The end of daylight savings time
has tied my schedule of
walking home from
work
to the celestial event
of sunset.
During which time
I am able to breath in the
deepening twilight.

November 11th, 2010

Town of Bedford
has a flagasm.

My stomach grumbles

As it is still on
daylight savings time.

STS-133 Discovery

Even while still trying to
get off the ground,
left a close circle of
family to laugh,
eat,
hike,
and dance with sharks.
Taken care of Vero Beach style

Shopkeeper: "Can I help you?"
Me: "Yes, I have managed to go to Florida
on vacation and not pack a bathing suit."
Shopkeeper: "That's the cornerstone of our business!"
