Slightly odd on the bike path.
A man running, pushing his bike,
only holding onto the
bike by the seat.
He stops, gets on the
bike and
pedals on his way.
"He who learns must suffer and even in our sleep the pain we cannot forget falls drop by drop upon our heart and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God."

Rick's dream
"You and I were selected for a space mission. After rigorous training and testing we were sent into space aboard the brown couch from my living room. We did experiments and spacewalks, although we were wearing normal clothes and not space suits. Any time we left the couch we needed to bring enough stuff with us that we could throw/jettison to move us around. I think we got pretty close to the sun. It gets a little fuzzy after that."
"sweet jesus, all these years I have been relying on spitting to get back to the couch!"

Sir,
I regret to inform you that there is a recall on your vehicle's turbo encabulator. Please bring it in for service immediately so we can replace the encabulator with the new revision. As a part of this service we will also check the dual calf-skin bi-valve exuders at no extra charge.
In the meantime, to help cope with your Subaru/Malibu, or Subalibu, I recommend a continuous regiment of anti-depressants and Metamucil.
I hope this helps.
Best,
Oswald SteeringWood

Women weeping on Loomis Street.
I asked if she was OK
and she said no.
I asked what the problem
was and after a long pause
she answered
"What would you do if your mother
died and your father abandoned
you in a group home?"
I tried to offer up positive
answers and options
but inside
I knew I would
probably be weeping
in the rain.

Sweet and the bitter
A beautiful spring Sunday
with family laughing and
smiling. A delightful saunter
walk in the cemetery
revisiting family that has
gone before us.
However to return home
to reunite with a loved one
stalked by a monster
who blows with the
inexorable north wind
of the bitterest winter day
and mocks us. How can we lift
ourselves to help?

H. P. Lovecraft
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

Snowy morning
She passed me,
with a cheerful "How you doing",
running in the opposite direction
when I heard the clang
of something hitting the
metal stanchions guarding
the bike path from motor
vehicles.
I looked around and she was on her
knees, on the ice patch that I had just
shuffled over,
leaning against the
stanchion with one hand.
She got up and walked then
ran back in the direction she had come.
Passing me again, saying
"That wasn't fun" to my inquiry.

Grock
I watched a squirrel
traverse an area of scrub
woods that had flooded
with about 6 inches of water.
She worked real hard
to avoid being in that water,
where I stood in the
slushy perimeter.
She would be head down
on one tree trunk and
leap horizontally to another
trunk.
After a few minutes
I clomped on my way.

Bike path panhandler
Amidst the crunch of snow,
Jez (or Bob, it's a little confusing)
says
"We have known each other for a
long time.
Its my birthday this weekend"
I interrupt with a Happy Birthday
wish, trying to derail the
coming train.
He continues "And I would like to
get a cup of coffee...."
The well worn transaction
(although the birthday info
is new) nearly complete.
"I am not going to give you any money."
I say. He looks to my face,
pauses,
and turns and walks away.

Not everything is between the ears.
"Mary is a brilliant scientist who is, for whatever reason, forced to investigate the world from a black and white room via a black and white television monitor. She specializes in the neurophysiology of vision and acquires, let us suppose, all the physical information there is to obtain about what goes on when we see ripe tomatoes, or the sky, and use terms like ‘red’, ‘blue’, and so on. She discovers, for example, just which wavelength combinations from the sky stimulate the retina, and exactly how this produces via the central nervous system the contraction of the vocal cords and expulsion of air from the lungs that results in the uttering of the sentence ‘The sky is blue’. [...] What will happen when Mary is released from her black and white room or is given a color television monitor? Will she learn anything or not? "

Unusual sightings on or around Springs Road
1) I have seen twice now an old man walking backwards (butt forward) up the road.
2) A teenager has something hidden behind stone wall across the street. I have seen him twice stand stone still until there are no cars and then he leaps into the woods. Once I saw him place a clear container of a medium brown liquid behind the wall.
3) There is a guy across the street from me who has covered, I mean hundreds, of bumper stickers on his white Taurus. I can not read them because he parks way up in his driveway. Last night when leaving Stop and Shop at around 8:30pm, way out in the empty parking lot, the car was parked and he was seated on the cement applying another bumper sticker.

WTF
When a woman refers
to herself as
"I don't consider myself a feminist by any means"
what exactly does that mean?
"I'll accept less pay for the same job?"
"I'll accept not being able to vote?"
"I'll let other people tell me how to dress?"
"I'll relinquish control of my body?"
or
"I'll accept people telling me who to demonize?"
